Follow Your Dreams & Block Out Negativity

I just waned to chat about not letting go or loosing hope of your dreams.

What is your career? I am currently in my first year of college and I am trying to figure out the whole career thing still. I have ideas and dreams of what I want to do, but not a specific set goal yet.

I want to create. I want to help others. I want to be my own boss, and I want to be happy doing whatever I choose.

I have mentioned to other’s that I would love to be a full time blogger or a content creator, but the response I get is very negative. People always tell me that blogging or creating content is not a real career and I should choose something more realistic. What is a more realistic job?

But did you know people make food shows for a living? Or people drive in a big circle racing really fast for hours for a living? Or people do others hair and makeup for certain events for a living? Or people arrange a pretty aesthetic of flowers for a wedding is a living? These are not your average everyday jobs, but I never hear people put them down about this.

I don’t want to work 9-5 and have a boss I need to report to everyday. I don’t want to beg for vacation time and argue with my employees about who is going to eat the last piece of pie in the fridge. (Even though fighting over pie sounds fun because I’d probably win.)

Just because we are in a new age of things doesn’t mean that my job is not realistic. There are many people who do this and are making a pretty good living off of it. Heck, I may even change my career within a year or two but for now this is what I am passionate about and I don’t need to hear somebody’s negativity about choosing a “real career”.

“About one-third or 30 percent of human life is spent working. The average working week in the United States consists of 40 hours of work.” –

I don’t want to waste a big chunk of my life by dreading to go to work every day.

I have found interest with a potential career for my future and I want to take that chance and see where it takes me.

Sometimes I doubt that I could do something so amazing with my life because I am not capable of being that awesome, but then I realize everybody who is a full time blogger or a full time content creator started from the bottom.

Why should I listen to others and try to convince myself out of something that I love to do. Why am I letting my inner critic take over me?

This turned into more of a rant but I am not sorry for wanting to do something out of the ordinary with my life. It will take a lot of hard work and a lot of patience, but I am willing to make that commitment to show everyone who doubted me that I can do it. I can do whatever I put my mind towards and I will succeed. YOU can do whatever you put your mind to. This post doesn’t have to stick with just a career, but apply it to whatever you can in life and take that leap of faith!

I hope any of you who are reading this decide to take that leap to whatever is it is in life, and to do it. Whether that be eating a whole cake alone, taking on that new positon at work that 10 times harder than your current position, or writing that first blog post. Just do it and don’t let anybody bring you down. Especially that inner critic of yours, don’t let that tear you from following your dreams.

Hello World!

  • Anne Lamott says, “Almost all good writing begins with terrible first efforts. You need to start somewhere. Start by getting something—anything—down on paper.” This is EXACTLY what I am doing, I am just starting. With that being said let me start off by saying thanks for stopping by! My name is Driana & I am 19 years old living with my partner(20) in Colorado.

  • We moved away from our family in San Diego almost two years ago! My partner, Sabbath, and I just started college this year. It has been a crazy experience so far. At least our cats Maggie and Isaac are helping us get through it.

  • I am SO NEW to this blogging thing. It took me only 5 hours and maybe a month to actually get the courage to write for this blog ha! I actually started this blog because I was getting very intimidated about making YouTube videos (which I hope to start making again soon). Blogging has been something I’ve always wanted to do for a while now. I am finally doing it YAAAAAY

  • I plan to make posts about college tips, everyday lifestyle, minimal living and in the future meal ideas and healthy living. I say “in the future” because right now I am in the process of getting into a healthy lifestyle so we can learn together!

  • If you like how that sounds you should  subscribe to my newsletter and add me on social media. You can also leave a comment down below so we can chat! Let’s Be Friends!
